Time for an Esketit update. The P2P platform has become a fixed building block in my portfolio for short-term loans: my account balance is currently €2,317.42, all 58 loans are paying on time right now, and through my link new users get 0.5% cashback. In this post I take you transparently through my own account – including the honest weaknesses like cash drag and the fact that Esketit is not regulated.

As always, first the most important note: this is not investment advice and not a buy recommendation, just my personal opinion and experience. P2P investments like this are high-risk – only invest money whose total loss you could handle. The Esketit link is a partner link: if you use it, you support my work at no extra cost to you.

My Esketit portfolio in numbers

Let's start with the account. My balance is €2,317.42 – of which €2,240.37 is invested and €77.05 is sitting free (more on that later, keyword cash drag). Pending payments: €0.00.

My Esketit account: balance €2,317.42, of which €2,240.37 invested and €77.05 available, no pending payments

A quick note on the video: I say there "I'm invested with €2,317.42" – to be precise, that's my total account balance. What's actually invested is €2,240.37, the remaining €77.05 is sitting free. Amounts of this size are deliberately a test portfolio for me: with unregulated platforms I ease in with manageable sums.

What exactly is Esketit?

Quickly, for anyone new: through Esketit you invest in short-term consumer and business loans. You buy shares of individual loans, earn interest and get your capital back when the loan is repaid. In my case almost all positions sit with the originator Nimbura from Malaysia (consumer loans, buyback obligation plus group guarantee).

The platform launched in December 2020 and is backed by Davis Barons and Matiss Ansviesulis, who are also behind the lending group AvaFin (formerly Creamfinance). Esketit is operated by Esketit Platform d.o.o. in Zagreb (Croatia) and Esketit Platform Limited in Dublin (Ireland) – in my account every loan is accordingly marked "by Esketit Croatia". Platform-wide, according to Esketit, over €1.02 billion in loan volume has been arranged and around €20.41 million in interest paid out to investors.

The full update is also available as a video – I walk step by step through my Esketit account, the auto-invest and the cashback promotion. Feel free to watch, or read on below.

All 58 loans on time

This is the most pleasant part for me: right now I hold 58 loans – and all are "Current", i.e. on time. There isn't a single cent in any overdue bucket (1–15, 16–30, 31–60, 61+ days late).

My Esketit portfolio: 58 loans, all 'Current' totalling €2,240.37, with €0.00 in every overdue bucket (1–15, 16–30, 31–60, 61+ days)

Typical for Esketit are the very short terms: my shortest loan has 4 days left, the longest 23 days. That means money keeps coming back regularly and can in theory be reinvested right away. The interest rates on my Nimbura loans are currently 10–11%; older, completed loans I still had at 13%. So you can see rates have come down a bit recently. In total I've held 224 loans over time – the 58 are the ones currently active.

My income so far

Numbers say more than promises. In total I've earned €114.42 in income so far:

My Esketit income: €114.42 total, of which €104.42 interest and €10.00 bonus, €0.00 from the secondary market

That breaks down into €104.42 interest plus a €10.00 bonus (nothing came from the secondary market because I haven't sold there). Platform-wide, Esketit shows an average interest rate of around 11.86% p.a. – that's an average across all investors, not a fixed rate and no guarantee. Given the short terms and the buyback obligation, that's a solid rate level for me, as long as you keep the risk in mind.

My auto-invest – and the honest cash drag

So I don't have to buy every loan by hand, I run an auto-invest called "Nimbura": target volume €3,000, of which 74.68% is reached (the €2,240.37). It invests €10–50 per loan, at 10–16% interest and 1–60 days remaining term, only in current Nimbura loans.

And this is exactly where the honest weakness lies right now:

Esketit cash drag: auto-invest 'Nimbura' 74.68% filled of €3,000, looking for 1–60 day terms but finding 0 matching loans; primary market only long-term, secondary market almost only at a premium – €77.05 sitting free

  • 0 matching loans: with my filter (1–60 days) the auto-invest currently finds not a single new offer. Only when I raise the term to 365 days do 14 loans appear at all.
  • Primary market empty for short terms: for Nimbura the primary market right now offers almost only long-term loans (over 5 months) – which doesn't fit my short-term strategy.
  • Secondary market only at a premium: the secondary market does have 4,986 loans, but in my filtered list they're consistently at +1 to +2% premium – not a single one at a discount.

The result: €77.05 is sitting idle and earning nothing. With small amounts that's bearable, but it clearly shows: at the moment Esketit is not a "deposit and everything is instantly invested" platform. My last automatic purchase was on 16 Sept 2026 – since then the reinvestment has stalled exactly here.

How safe is Esketit?

Here I have to be especially clear, because it's the biggest difference from regulated platforms:

Esketit safety at a glance: operators in Croatia and Ireland since December 2020, buyback obligation plus group guarantee, avg 11.86% interest on €1.02bn volume – but NOT regulated and no deposit insurance

Esketit is not regulated. The platform states verbatim in its own footer: "Esketit is not regulated under any financial services licence." So there's no financial supervision like with a regulated investment firm, and no deposit insurance like with a savings account. As a safety net the loans come with a buyback obligation plus a group guarantee from the originator – but that only works as long as the originator or group stays solvent. If an originator or the platform fails, your capital is at risk. That's exactly why Esketit is deliberately a smaller test portfolio for me and not my largest P2P building block.

If you still want to try Esketit, through my referral link* you get 0.5% cashback as a new user on all investments in your first 90 days. To be fully transparent: it's a partner link. If you sign up through it, I receive a small commission – but it costs you nothing extra, on the contrary you get the cashback on top. The exact bonus terms are set by Esketit, so check them when you sign up.

Who is Esketit right for?

A good fit if you…
  • like short terms and steady repayments (4–23 days in my case)
  • value a buyback obligation plus group guarantee as a safety net
  • want to grab the current roughly 11–12% interest
  • want 0.5% cashback as a new user in your first 90 days
Less relevant if you…
  • need a regulated and supervised platform
  • expect real deposit insurance
  • want your money fully invested at all times (cash drag)
  • can't bear the default risk of originators and the platform

My plan & verdict

My plan stays relaxed: I let the auto-invest keep running and top up Esketit in small steps (around €100–200) rather than making big jumps – precisely because of the cash drag, it's not worth putting in a lot of money at once that then waits around uninvested.

Bottom line, Esketit is doing fine for me: all 58 loans on time, €114.42 in income, short terms and a solid rate level around 11%, plus the buyback and group guarantee. The clear flip side is the current cash drag and above all that Esketit is not regulated – you need to be aware of that. If you try it, do so with money you can spare – and feel free to grab the cashback: go to Esketit through my link*.

Frequently asked questions

What is Esketit and how does it work?

Esketit is a P2P platform where you invest in short-term consumer and business loans – in my case almost entirely in loans from the originator Nimbura from Malaysia. You buy shares of loans, earn interest (Esketit shows an average of around 11.86% p.a.) and get your capital back when the loan is repaid. Most loans run only a few days to weeks. The platform launched in December 2020 and is backed by the founders of the lending group AvaFin/Creamfinance.

Is Esketit regulated and how safe is it?

Honestly and importantly: Esketit is not regulated. In its own footer the platform states 'Esketit is not regulated under any financial services licence.' It's operated by Esketit Platform d.o.o. in Zagreb (Croatia) and Esketit Platform Limited in Dublin (Ireland). As a safety net many loans come with a buyback obligation plus a group guarantee from the originator – but there's no deposit insurance like with a savings account, and your capital is at risk if an originator or the platform fails.

How do I get the 0.5% cashback on Esketit?

Through my referral link (finlen.de/esketit) you get 0.5% cashback as a new user on all investments in your first 90 days. It costs you nothing extra – it's a partner link through which I receive a small commission if you sign up. The exact bonus terms are set by Esketit, so check them when you sign up.

What is the biggest drawback of Esketit?

Right now for me it's cash drag: my auto-invest looks for loans with 1–60 days term but currently finds 0 matching offers. The primary market only offers long-term Nimbura loans (over 5 months) at the moment, and while the secondary market has almost 5,000 loans, they're practically all at a premium rather than a discount. The result: €77.05 is sitting idle in my account earning nothing. If you want to stay fully invested, keep an eye on that.

What return does Esketit offer?

Esketit shows a platform-wide average interest rate of around 11.86% p.a. My own Nimbura loans currently run at 10–11%, older ones I still had at 13%. So far I've earned €104.42 in interest plus a €10.00 bonus, so €114.42 in income. Important: this is not a fixed rate and no guarantee – past numbers say nothing about the future.

How much have I invested in Esketit?

My account balance is €2,317.42, of which €2,240.37 is invested across 58 loans and €77.05 is sitting free. All 58 loans are paying on time, not a single one is overdue. Over time I've held a total of 224 loans. I keep topping up Esketit in small steps.
