Time for a Viainvest update. I've been investing on the Latvian platform since January 2026, I keep topping up a little, and by now I have around €1,760 there. In this post I'll show you my account in detail and how interest and repayments have gone so far – and there's some exciting news: with ECOCREDIT.lt, a new loan originator from Lithuania is set to join the platform.

First, as always, the most important note: this is not investment advice and not a buy recommendation, just my personal opinion and my own investment. P2P loans are a risky asset class – defaults, platform risk and a total loss of your capital are all possible. You're responsible for your money, I'm responsible for mine – always make your own decision. The Viainvest link is a partner link: if you use it, you support my work and nothing gets more expensive for you – on the contrary, you lock in the cashback.

My Viainvest account in numbers

Let's start with the account. As of 3 October 2026 I'm invested with exactly €1,760.29 at Viainvest. Of that, €1,702.71 is in securities, €57.58 is currently in process, and nothing is sitting idle (€0.00).

My Viainvest account in numbers: €1,760.29 invested since January 2026, €90.07 interest (€83.44 paid out plus €6.63 accrued), interest rates of 9–13% across 32 securities

In interest, I'm at €90.07 so far. To be precise: €83.44 has already been paid out, and a further €6.63 has accrued but hasn't reached me yet. This is what it looks like in the dashboard:

My Viainvest dashboard: account summary with €1,702.71 invested funds and €57.58 payments in process (total €1,760.29), earnings with €83.44 paid interest and €6.63 accumulated interest (total €90.07), invested funds by loan originator: 69.95% SIA VIA SMS (LV), 26.87% Viaconto Sweden AB (SE), 3.18% IFN Viaconto Minicredit S.A. (RO)

A small correction to the video: at the beginning I say I've "already been invested for a year". That's not quite right – my first purchases were on 13 January 2026, so it's just under nine months. For that period, and for an account that only grew step by step, I think a good €90 in interest is decent.

Geographically, my account is currently spread across three countries:

Geographic spread of my Viainvest account: 69.95% Latvia (SIA VIA SMS), 26.87% Sweden (Viaconto Sweden AB), 3.18% Romania (IFN Viaconto Minicredit S.A.); announced: Lithuania with ECOCREDIT.lt

  • Latvia (SIA VIA SMS): 69.95%
  • Sweden (Viaconto Sweden AB): 26.87%
  • Romania (IFN Viaconto Minicredit S.A.): 3.18%

So the focus is clearly on Latvia. That's exactly why the news further down is interesting for me – Lithuania would add another country.

What is Viainvest, anyway?

For everyone who doesn't know the platform yet: Viainvest is part of VIA SMS Group, a financial services provider that issues consumer loans in several European countries. On Viainvest you invest in asset-backed securities backed by loans from the group's subsidiaries – currently from Latvia, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania.

That's also the most important point for putting it into perspective: you do diversify across countries and many individual loans, but all loan originators belong to the same group. If VIA SMS Group runs into trouble, it affects the whole platform.

The key facts according to Viainvest: you can start from €50, there are no fees for investors, interest currently goes up to around 13% – and since 21 July 2026 there's a completely redesigned website with a new investor dashboard and two-factor authentication. The new dashboard is noticeably more modern and clearer than before.

New: ECOCREDIT.lt from Lithuania is joining the platform

Now for the big news: Viainvest is getting a new loan originator – ECOCREDIT.lt from Lithuania.

Viainvest's announcement graphic: Lithuanian loan originator ECOCREDIT.lt joining VIAINVEST

Here's what is known so far according to Viainvest's information material:

ECOCREDIT.lt at a glance: new loan originator from Lithuania, operating since 2011, part of VIA SMS Group since February 2026, consumer loans from €100 to €5,000, terms of 90 to 720 days, fifth country after Latvia, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania, launch date and interest rates still open

  • Who: ECOCREDIT.lt has operated in Lithuania since 2011 and has been part of VIA SMS Group since February 2026 – the same group as Viainvest.
  • What: consumer loans from €100 to €5,000 with terms of 90 to 720 days, so roughly three months to about two years. The application process is fully digital.
  • When: the originator is expected to launch on Viainvest "in the near future". There's no specific date yet – to me that means a few weeks to a few months. But that's my reading, not a statement from Viainvest.
  • New country: with Lithuania, a fifth country would join the platform – alongside Latvia, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania.

What is not yet known: the launch date, the interest rates and the terms of the securities you'd actually invest in. Viainvest says it will announce those. And to put it in context: ECOCREDIT.lt is also a group subsidiary – you'd diversify more broadly by country, but not across a new, independent group.

How much volume ECOCREDIT.lt is expected to bring

What I find most interesting are the volume figures, because that's exactly where Viainvest has sometimes fallen short in the past (more on that in a moment):

Projected volume of ECOCREDIT.lt on Viainvest: around €600,000 in already issued loans at launch, then around €150,000 in new loans per month, €200,000 to €250,000 per month within the first six months, target of around €500,000 per month within a year – all projections

  • At launch: around €600,000 in loans already issued
  • Near term: around €150,000 in new loans per month
  • Within the first six months: around €200,000–250,000 per month
  • Target within a year: around €500,000 per month

Important: these are projections, not commitments. Viainvest itself says the figures reflect the current planning and may still change. For comparison: in August 2026, according to Viainvest, loans worth around €10.1 million were published on the platform as a whole. So ECOCREDIT.lt wouldn't be a giant leap, but a noticeable additional supply – and a new country.

My securities: 32 of them, 9–13% interest

Back to my account. Under "My investments" I can see all the securities I've bought so far:

My Viainvest securities: 32 in total, 29 active, 0 pending repayment, 3 repaid; visible interest rates from 9 to 13%, loan originators SIA VIA SMS (LV), Viaconto Sweden AB (SE) and IFN Viaconto Minicredit S.A. (RO)

  • 32 securities in total
  • 29 active
  • 3 fully repaid
  • 0 under "Pending repayment" – so right now no repayment is stuck waiting

The interest rates in my account range from 9% to 13%. The higher rates come with the longer terms: I bought my latest 13% security on 2 October 2026, and it runs until 2 October 2027 – exactly twelve months. Interest is paid monthly.

You can also see nicely in the list that I buy regularly: in September and early October alone, several new positions were added, mostly between €50 and a good €200.

The first repayments are in

Because I started in January, the first three securities have now been fully repaid – €100 each at 11%: two from Sweden and one from Latvia.

With the Latvian security you can see the term clearly: bought on 15 January 2026, repaid on 16 July 2026 – so around six months, on time at maturity. I had already bought the two Swedish securities on 13 January 2026. (In the video I say all three ran "each" from 15 January to 16 July – that date is only documented precisely for the Latvian one.)

Since I've kept investing in small tranches ever since, repayments should now come in regularly, and I can then reinvest them.

How safe is Viainvest?

Every one of my securities says "Secured by buyback obligation". According to Viainvest that means: if a borrower is more than 60 days late, the loan originator has to buy back the loan – including principal and interest.

That is an additional safeguard, but not a guarantee. The buyback obligation is only worth as much as the originator's ability to pay – and, as described above, the originators all belong to the same group.

Then there's regulation: according to Viainvest, it is an investment firm licensed and supervised by the Bank of Latvia (Latvijas Banka). That comes with investor compensation of up to €20,000 per investor, and client funds are held in segregated accounts. But careful: the compensation applies if Viainvest itself can't meet its obligations – not in the event of loan defaults. There is no deposit insurance like with a savings account.

Bottom line: with the buyback obligation and regulation, Viainvest does quite a lot. But these remain loan investments, and with interest of 9–13% we always need to be aware of the risk.

Taxes: 5% withholding tax and the tax statement

Since several people asked about it under my recent videos, a word on taxes – and a clarification of what I said in the video. There I say the tax is "not deducted automatically". I mean the German tax, and that's correct: unlike a German stock broker, Viainvest does not withhold German capital gains tax for you. As a German investor you have to declare your interest in your tax return yourself – and wherever you live, your home-country tax is your own responsibility.

What does happen automatically, though: Viainvest deducts Latvian withholding tax from every interest payment. According to Viainvest that's 5% for tax residents of the EU/EEA – and only on the interest portion, not on principal repayments. You can see it directly in my account statement:

My Viainvest account statement: interest payment of €0.81 on 28 Sep 2026 with €0.04 withholding tax deducted (Taxes – withholding tax deducted), interest payment of €0.48 on 30 Sep 2026 with €0.02 withholding tax; next to it the Tax statements tab

On €0.81 of interest, for example, €0.04 was deducted; on €0.48 it was €0.02.

You'll find the tax report in your account under Statements → Tax statements. Mine is still empty because I only started in 2026 – I expect the report for 2026 to show up there after the end of the year. You can then download it and hand it to your tax adviser or transfer the figures into your tax return yourself (in Germany: Anlage KAP).

Important: this is not tax advice, just how I handle it. How the withheld tax is treated in your specific case is something to clarify with your tax adviser if in doubt.

If you want to try Viainvest yourself: via my Viainvest link* you get 0.5% cashback on all investments within the first 90 days after signing up. As always: check the current terms when you register, before you get started. For transparency: this is a referral link – if you sign up through it, I get a small commission, and it doesn't cost you more. On the contrary, you get the extra cashback you otherwise wouldn't.

Who is Viainvest right for?

A good fit if you…
  • prefer a platform supervised by Latvijas Banka
  • are looking for fixed interest of around 9–13%
  • want a buyback obligation on all securities
  • want to take the 0.5% cashback when you start
Less relevant if you…
  • need a guaranteed return or deposit insurance
  • want to spread across many independent originators – here they all belong to VIA SMS Group
  • expect a large supply of securities at all times
  • can't bear the capital risk of consumer loans

My plan and conclusion

So far, Viainvest has been running quietly well for me: the first repayments came on time, nothing is stuck waiting right now, and the interest is fine. It's not one of my biggest platforms yet – you can see how Viainvest fits into my overall P2P portfolio in the P2P portfolio update October 2026. But I'm topping up step by step: the interest gets reinvested, plus usually €100–200 a month.

What I've sometimes missed so far is choice: there were definitely days when I found no suitable offer at all. That's exactly why I'm curious about ECOCREDIT.lt – more volume, a new country and, I hope, a few shorter terms as well. That last part is pure speculation on my side, though; Viainvest hasn't said anything about the terms of the securities yet.

Bottom line: €1,760 invested, €90.07 in interest in just under nine months, interest rates of 9–13%, a supervised platform with a buyback obligation – and the risks that simply come with consumer loans from a single group. If you want to try Viainvest, it's best to lock in the cashback right away: try Viainvest via my link and take the 0.5% cashback*.
